The Dogfish Dash is  a 5K/10K out-and-back race from Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats in downtown Rehoboth Beach, DE. The course goes along the Cape Henlopen State Park's Breakwater-Junction trail.

The Dogfish Dash is  a 5K/10K out-and-back race from Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats in downtown Rehoboth Beach, DE. The course goes along the Cape Henlopen State Park's Breakwater-Junction trail. The run is followed by a great post-race party at Dogfish Head's brewup. Runners will enjoy a beautiful course, and a great party...all while supporting the mission of The Nature Conservancy to protect the last great places on earth.

The race is scheduled for Sunday, September 23, 2007 beginning at 8:00am.

We're pleased to announce the Delaware Chapter of The Nature Conservancy will be the beneficiary of the 2007 Dogfish Dash 5K/10K road race.  "We are excited to be working with The Nature Conservancy on this event," says Dogfish Head VP Mariah Calagione, "they do such great work right here in Delaware and around the world."

The Mission of The Nature Conservancy is to preserve the plants, animals, and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive. Since 1994, The Nature Conservancy has helped protect more than 29,000 acres of natural lands in Delaware, including six Conservancy-owned preserves totaling approximately 6,000 acres. The chapter focuses primarily on the critical landscapes within the Delaware Bayshores which covers approximately 4,000 square-miles representing some of the East Coast’s most important natural habitats, including beaches and dunes, tidal wetlands and marshes, freshwater tributaries and native upland forests. Millions of migrating birds stop here each spring, in the midst of their 10,000 mile odyssey to the Arctic, to feast on eggs laid by the world’s largest population of spawning horseshoe crabs. Two of the recent TNC projects in this landscape include: Pemberton Forest Preserve – The Delaware Chapter has just completed a fundraising effort to preserve the 908-acre Ponders tract addition to the Pemberton Forest Preserve, west of Milton, DE Great Marsh - A collaborative effort with 3 landowners to protect 600 acres north of Lewes, DE. In partnership with Sussex County Land Trust and Sussex County Council, this project created a connection between Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge and a state-owned preserve.
