100 signed half-growlers of brett-fermented Sick Cider available Friday
It wasn’t easy trying to top the recent limited-release growler fills of Beer for Breakfast and Choc Lobster. Both releases drew lines of people at our Rehoboth Beach brewpub and sold out within hours.
What could we do next? Well, we think we’ve nailed it. At noon on Friday (3/13), we’ll be releasing 100 32-oz. growlers — signed and numbered by Dogfish founder Sam Calagione — of a little something we’re calling Sick Cider.
Sick Cider is a rustic sorta-cider made with unfiltered and unpasteurized apple cider and a little bit of American 2-row barley (so not quite gluten-free). It’s fermented with a culture of funky and wild Brett yeast, most widely known for helping to create the beautiful Lambics of Belgium, and aged in oak barrels. It’s crisp, tart and refreshing and clocks in at 7.5% ABV.
Just like he did for the first two, Sam will break out the paints and decorate each growler.
Growler fills of Sick Cider will only be available to the 100 people who buy a signed and numbered half-growler at the brewpub kiosk. The growler and fill are $20 (sorry, no discounts) and are limited to one per person. Inside, 10-oz. pours of Sick Cider will be available from noon until it’s gone.
The new 32-oz. growlers allow our draft beers to be consumed as fresh as possible, and we’ll offer some of our higher-gravity beers, including 120 Minute IPA and other occasional rarities, in the smaller growlers. However, due to limited availability, we won’t often offer growler fills of Brewpub Exclusives. You still gotta drink those at the source!
Hope to see you on Friday … cheers!
