$1,000 'cherry on top' goes to Milford's Art on the Riverwalk
The results of our Benevolence Nights are in, and we're happy to announce that Downtown Milford Inc. has walked away with an additional $1,000 to support its public art project, Art on the Riverwalk.
Late last year, when we asked “Could your nonprofit use $4,000?” we heard from a bunch of great Sussex nonprofits who support the arts, the environment and our local communities. Three stood out — Downtown Milford Inc., Milton Historical Society and Center for the Inland Bays — and we gave them each a $3,000 grant.
Then, we threw three parties at Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats in downtown Rehoboth Beach, one for each winner, and threw an extra $1,000 into the pot for the organization that packed the house with the most supporters.
Although Downtown Milford is geographically the farthest away, their friends, family and supporters rose to the challenge on the night of April 16 and earned the extra $1,000 for Art on the Riverwalk.
“As Dogfish Head has grown, our ability to give back has grown, as well,” says Donation Dude Mark Carter. “We're very proud and very happy to contribute to organizations doing incredible work right in your backyard.”
Many thanks to all the local organizations who participated in our 2013 Beer & Benevolence awards. You all do great work!
And stay tuned. We’ll be announcing the 2014 awards program in early fall. In the meantime, keep drinking the good stuff and doing the great work!
