Chillin With The Man In The Big Red Suit 2011
This just inUp on the brewery reindeer pauseOut jumps good ole Santa Claus..
Friday, December 16, 2011 Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus came all the way from the North Pole to visit with 41 children belonging to co-workers at Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in Milton, Delaware.
Oh how I wish you could have been here! To see all the excited children who waited patiently all year just to get a glimpse of Santa Claus. When you are under 10, maybe even 11 hes the man. You do your best all year just to stay on his nice list and then if youre luckyyou get the chance to see him before he makes his infamous journey on Christmas Eve. You get the chance to tell him, in person, without your parents pressuring you, what it is you really want for Christmas! And so they did! Out of the 40+ children that came to chill with the man in the big red suit that night at least 35 got sit on Santas lap and have a serious conversation. The roughly 9% that were left were either too young, had no clue or wanted no parts of Santa whatsoever.
The kids came with their letters to Santa which were collected in a special mail box and mailed directly to the North Pole from the Brewery. In turn, each child who mailed a letter received a personal note from Santa at the North Pole. There were cupcakes and cookies and punch for everyone a special thanks to Kathleen Weissberg who ALWAYS makes the most delicious treats for the kids during the holidays!
Aside from sitting on Santas lap, each child received a special toy and a goodie bag. This year, everyone got a Singamajig. By pressing its belly, the Singamajig would emit a sound out of its mouth, when two or more Singamajig's are in the same room they harmonize! They also talk and sing a song by themselves!
In order to help Santa, originally, we made sure we had 50 Singamajigs on hand before the big event. When only 41kids showed up, we were able to donate 9 Singamajigs to the Toys For Tots Foundation! The event turned out to be very successful and a really good time for all of those involved.
Already looking forward to next year, oh, and as usualSam got to have his time with the man in the big red suit too.
