Every Beer Has A Story: The 'My Antonia' label

Tuesday, July 10, 2012

Dogfish Head has been an ale-focused brewery since our doors opened in 1995. But a few times a year, we make an imperial pilsner called My Antonia. Take a close look at the label and you'll get a feel for this lagerific departure.

Myant

The shield on My Antonia comes from Birra del Borgo, the brewery outside Rome where Sam brewed the first batch back in October 2008. Inside the shield, a cityscape melds the old-world architecture of Rome with the skyline of Manhattan's Flatiron District. The blend celebrates not only the collaborative birth of this beer, but the work Dogfish and Birra del Borgo do together at the rooftop pub Birreria at Eataly New York.

Like our 60, 90 and 120 Minute IPAs, My Antonia is continually hopped throughout its boil. It's also unfiltered and bottle-conditioned, with lots of earthy notes and hop spice. It goes great with raw oysters, grilled sausages or a sharp Swiss cheese.

Look for this 7.5% ABV brew on taps and shelves in the next couple of weeks. To find where our wholesalers have delivered My Antonia in the past 60 days, check out the Fish Finder. As a reminder, it's always best to call and confirm before making any treks. Cheers!
