Pontoon Lagoon Weekend at the Dogfish INN!
Being based in Coastal Delaware, we have access to some of the most beautiful waterways around and since it’s getting warmer outside we’re ready to splash by the ocean and take a paddle on the bay! We’re an adventurous bunch here at Dogfish Head and our “Mother Nature, Let’s Do This” yearlong initiative has been challenging beer and nature lovers alike to enjoy the splendor of the great outdoors, and we’re excited to invite you to join us for our Pontoon Lagoon Weekend on May 14 – 16 at the Dogfish INN! Along with having fun on the water, we’re partnering with the DE Center for the Inland Bays, a local organization whose mission is to preserve, protect and restore Delaware’s Inland Bays and their watershed. So, let’s dive into what we’ve got in store for the weekend...
Friday, May 14
Who doesn’t love a happy hour to start the weekend? Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione is hosting a happy hour with our friends Grain on the Rocks located at the Lewes Ferry Terminal, and they’ll have a great line-up of off-centered ales for you to enjoy while you’re taking in the beautiful views of the Delaware Bay! We’ll even have some fun giveaways!
Saturday, May 15
Come Saturday, we’ve got a great line-up of on-the-water activities to enjoy!
In the morning, Dogfish Head and the DE Center for the Inland Bays will host an optional “Protecting our Waters and Wetlands Paddle” excursion. As you enjoy a beautiful morning on the water, we’ll discuss preserving our area’s wetlands and you’ll learn about the the Center’s research, education and restoration efforts.
At 3 p.m. at our Off-Centered emPOURium and Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats in Rehoboth Beach, we’ll be releasing our second Beer & Benevolence 16oz. can release of the year! Pontoon Lagoon is a gose-style ale brewed with hand-harvested pickleweed, local sea salt and prickly pear. This beer is brewed in collaboration and will benefit the DE Center for the Inland Bays, so come grab a 4 pack to-go, try it on draft, or both! The Center will also be set up in the courtyard of Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats with a display so guests can learn all about their mission and how they work to protect our inland bay waterways.
Now it’s time for the main event … our Saturday Fireside Chat on the water! Join Brewing Ambassador Bryan Selders and the DE Center for the Inland Bays for a fireside chat on the Lewes-Rehoboth canal as we take the Water Taxi and head out of Lewes to Rehoboth via the brand-new Grove Park Dock & Canal Access. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the canal as Bryan and the Center discuss our beer collaboration, the importance of clean water and more! The Water Taxi will dock in Rehoboth and guests will head over to Chesapeake & Maine for complimentary appetizers sourced from the Chesapeake Bay.
