Age of Old Reason

We’ve done variants of our beloved Belgian-style brown ale, Raison d’Etre, over the years with beers like Raison d’Extra and Raison Brett’ra. This Oud Bruin-esque version, Age of Old Reason, features 2 threads – a young and an old beer blended to make the traditional style. The young beer is the classic Raison d’Etre Belgian brown brewed with raisins and brown sugar, but also aged in oak foeders for 2 months. The second old beer is a dark mixed culture beer that was aged in French oak red wine barrels for 3 years. The blend is complex and robust with notes of fruit leather, dates, raisins cherries, oak, hazelnuts and light chocolate notes. The finish is long and tart with just a touch of sweetness.
