Hot Tart

With an American IPA base, two kinds of fruit, and three types of pepper, Hot Tart wraps hoppy bitterness, fruity acidity, and a good bit of heat into one complex brew.

Pale malts and bold American hops varieties lend a light bready malt base along with characteristic citrusy grassy notes, but for us here at Dogfish, that’s rarely enough; three types of pepper- Chilis De Arbole, Guajillo Chilis, and Pablanos, add salsa-like character and a heat that builds as you sip.  Cranberries and blueberries were pureed and added to the kettle post boil to lend a drying fruity acidity to the beer.  Finally, this lil’ hussy was aged on pounds of Calypso hops, once fermentation was complete.  The combination of flavors hits all flavor receptors on the tongue, starting out with malt and citrus, notes of savory heat in the middle, and an acidic finish that lingers.

This beer is a delicious pairing for our Dogpile, Braised Lamb Empanada, or Namaste Chili Calamari.

Hot Tart will be tapped on Friday, July 26 and will be available until its gone.

Due to limited availability of our small-batch Brewpub Exclusive beers, Hot Tart is not available for growler fills.
